Running Update

I hear by declare that Fridays will be running update days.  Why?  Probably because I don't run on fridays and have naptime to do whatever I want.  Oh, how I love fridays!

This week I ran 17.5 miles total.  With my long run being 5.5 miles outside on saturday.  I did my hill intervals on Tuesday.  As much as I hate them, I do feel like they are making a difference in how far I can run.  The long run this weekend was really good compared to the weekend before.  I also have added 30 minutes of strength training twice a week into the routine.  I added this because I seem to have hit a plateau in the weight loss department.  I have lost 18 pounds total.  I would like to lose 7 more, but my body has other ideas.  So do the Girls Scouts.  Darn cookies.  So I am throwing in the strength training to try to take off a few more pounds.  And I it gives me something to hate other than hill intervals.  Lunges and squats are not my friend. 

My first race is a week away ... next saturday.  I get to pick up my race packet tomorrow.  I'm excited.  I know, I am a total dork.  I am not too nervous about it yet.  It is a 7k, which equates to somewhere over 4 but less than 4.5 miles.  Since I ran 5.5 miles outside last weekend, I am feeling pretty good about the mileage.  My only goal for this race is to finish.  No walking.  Wish me luck! (Coincidentally, it is on St. Patrick's Day, so that should bring me all the luck I need, right?!?)
